It is chosen home of the rate Black - Nacked cranes who migrate here in winter from Tibetan plateau. Also the valley of Gangtey is one of the most beautiful places in Bhutan and the Gangtey Gompa monastery is the only Nyingmapa monastery on the western side of the black mountains. This moderate trek visits the village of Gogona and Khotokha, passing through meadows and fields, then forests of juniper, magnolia and rhododendrons. It is one of the finest low level treks in Bhutan. Season:- The good time for this trek is March to May and September to November. The best month for trek is April when rhododendrons are in full bloom.

Laya Trek
Duration: 21 Nights / 22Days (Laya Trek) Places to Visit: (Paro - Shana - Soi Thangthangkha - Jangothang - Lingshi - Chebisa - Shomuthang - Robluthang - Limithang - Laya - Chamsa - Gasa Tshachu - Damji - Tashithang - Punakha - Thimphu - Paro) ![]() This trek offers a great variety of trekking conditions, from picturesque farmland and forests to alpine pastureland and high passes. Spectacular camp site, beneath some of Bhutan's most impressive peaks, of which the most notable are Chomolhari and Jichu Drake, are also the features of this trekking route. Numerous isolated Dzong and scatters settlements, including the outlandish village of Laya, provide a great deal of cultural interest enroute. Season: This trek is generally open from April to June and mid September to mid November. However the best trekking month in Laya region is April.
